Leviathan is the king of Hell and rules over the Cenobites. Pinhead was created when Captain Spencer's (a World War I veteran who solved the Lament Configuration) soul and the soul of Xipe Totec (a Mayan king) merged. In the films, it is depicted as a massive, rotating rhombus levitating above the labyrinth.
Hellraiser Remake[]
In the Hellraiser remake, Leviathan is modified by being able to grant wishes to whoever holds the puzzle box after making five sacrifices to the Cenobites. The wishes it grants are based off the six configurations the puzzle box takes on. However, each wish in the end will be twisted to include some kind of pain. The only exception to this, presumably, is Lament, which is to live with the pain oneself caused, knowing that it will be "bitter and brief" instead of desiring a gift. In addition, Leviathan is able to produce a large chain to impale people that choose the Leviathan Configuration (power), taking them to its realm and gruesomely transforming them into new Cenobites.
