Serena Menaker is a fictional character introduced in the beginning of the Hellraiser remake film, played by Hiam Abbass.
History[]
Serena is first seen driving to a neighborhood location to meet with the enigmatic Lorenz, who meets with her to procure a mysterious artifact. He was expecting to meet with her employer, Roland Voight, but she explains to him that Voight never does anything that he can get someone else to do for him. She exchanges a briefcase full of money in it for the wooden case containing the artifact, and Lorenz warns her that it is not to be taken lightly.
Six years later, Serena is seen by Riley McKendry and her boyfriend Trevor in a medical center dying of a lung condition, presumably lung cancer. They ask her about the warehouse the puzzle box was found in by them, and she explains that it was locked up and that they had stepped into Voight's business by taking the box. She reveals that the last thing she did for Voight was sort out his estate, and Riley shows her the box. Serena asks them who opened the box, as it's not in its initial configuration, and Riley explains that it was her brother that touched the box's blade, and Serena realizes that he's gone and that Riley has likely seen the Cenobites. She explains further that Voight used to see them and referred to them as being angels.
"You'd think a devil would know a devil." - Serena
She attempts to take the box back, but during a struggle with Riley, she cuts herself on the blade, becoming marked for the Cenobites. When left alone by the medical personnel, she is taken into the Labyrinth and tries to escape, but is cornered by three of the Cenobites: The Gasp, the Weeper and the Asphyx.
